Teaser Tuesday: Spoiler alert
When Ivy Met Adam got a lovely review on Amazon in August.
Andrew
First of all let me say that the text exchanges in this book sound just like real people - real words - real advice - not forced - genuine and I loved that. Actually it is all so real - people you could put a face to. I also like that tough lgbtq+ issues are addressed but in a way that makes it easier to talk about and more tangible….”the world makes it tough for people like us…” and of course just enough spice to keep the pages turning.
I think this excerpt from the epilogue reflects what he’s talking about here.
Spoiler alert! This is from the epilogue!
“We live in a scary world for people like us, Adam.” The fine March morning isn’t cool enough for the shivers that run down my spine.
He stops walking. Turns to me. Squeezes my hand. “True.” A world of meaning in that one word.
“I think we should do something about that.” I wish I had actual ideas. It’s really just a feeling.
“I’m listening,” he says.
“I was thinking about a youth center further into the Florida of it all.”
“Out in rural Florida? I’m sure there are lots of kids who need a safe space. Good thinking.” I can see his wheels turning.
“Maybe not only kids? My office is a legal firm, not a support center. The closest actual LGBT center is 30 minutes south of here. After that, you have to go all the way to Ft. Lauderdale. Maybe a mobile center? With a clinic?” I see the vision starting to clear in my head.
