Women’s History Month
It’s in the month of March for a reason, my hearts.
Women’s History Month is here, and 2025’s theme—“Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations”—could not be more perfect for romance readers. Because you know what romance does better than any other genre? It teaches us that women’s stories matter. That love is expansive. That we deserve joy, agency, and happily-ever-afters on our terms.
And since March is also a month to run over the crumbling foundation of the patriarchy with steel-toed boots, let’s celebrate some romance audiobooks that educate, inspire, and show women moving forward—together. These stories from my TBR feature teachers, leaders, trailblazers, revolutionaries—and, of course, some delicious, swoon-worthy love. Let’s read them together this month!
Reputation by Lex Croucher, narrated by Bessie Carter
“If Bridgerton and Fleabag had a book baby, it would be Reputation. I inhaled it in one sitting.” —Sarra Manning
“I had so much fun reading Reputation. It's a total blast.” —Louise O'Neill
“Dazzling . . . so boldly, audaciously modern.” —BookPage, starred review
“Think of Bridgerton crossed with Sex Education.”—Good Housekeeping
“Hilarious and compelling”
—India Holton, author of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels
“Fresh, fiercely feminist, and utterly irreverent.”
—Martha Waters, author of To Have and to Hoax
The Brightest Star by Gail Tsukiyama, narrated by Cindy Kay
“A writer of astonishing grace, delicacy, and feeling.”—Michael Chabon, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay
“A beautiful, haunting book.”—Karen Joy Fowler, New York Times bestselling author of Booth and We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves
The Bodyguard by Katherine Center, narrated by Patti Murin
"Patti Murin gives a terrific performance of this heartwarming contemporary romance." -AudioFile Magazine
“Great rollicking fun! Prepare to laugh and swoon and grin your pants off.”—Helen Hoang, New York Times bestselling author of The Heart Principle
“My perfect 10 of a book. As funny and sweet as all the very best nineties rom-coms, but with Center’s signature heart-tugging depth. I wish I could erase it from my mind just to read it again for the first time. A shot of pure joy.”—Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Book Lovers
"The Bodyguard is absolutely, unequivocally delightful!"—Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wish You Were Here
Circe by Madeline Miller, narrated by Perdita Weeks
"Circe,' [is] a bold and subversive retelling of the goddess's story that manages to be both epic and intimate in its scope, recasting the most infamous female figure from the Odyssey as a hero in her own right."—Alexandra Alter, New York Times
"One of the most amazing qualities of this novel [is]: We know how everything here turns out—we've known it for thousands of years—and yet in Miller's lush reimagining, the story feels harrowing and unexpected. The feminist light she shines on these events never distorts their original shape; it only illuminates details we hadn't noticed before."—Ron Charles, Washington Post
"[Miller] gives voice to Circe as a multifaceted and evolving character...'Circe' is very pleasurable to read, combining lively versions of familiar tales and snippets of other, related standards with a highly psychologized, redemptive and ultimately exculpatory account of the protagonist herself."—Claire Messud, New York Times Book Review
Let’s Keep Moving Forward—Together
Romance is revolutionary. It tells us that women’s joy is important, our stories deserve space, and love should be a source of strength—not submission. So this Women’s History Month, let’s celebrate romance that educates, inspires, and reminds us that we are never moving forward alone.
