WIP: Meet the Three
WIP Wednesday: Meet the Characters of Three’s a Charm
Hey everyone! I’m excited to share a sneak peek into my latest work in progress, Three’s a Charm. This slow-burn suspense poly rom-com features a clairvoyant heroine and is inspired by the story of Deborah from the Book of Judges in Hebrew scripture.
I’m posting the novel episodically on Vella, and I’d love for you to check it out there! But I’m also dropping some exclusive details here on the blog that you won’t find on Vella—just for you.
Divya is the heart of this story, and she’s based on the biblical Deborah, a prophetess and judge who led Israel to victory in a time of crisis. Just like Deborah, Divya is wise, strong-willed, and deeply intuitive, using her clairvoyant abilities to navigate the complexities of her world. She’s the glue that holds everything together, and her chaotic strength is something that both inspires and captivates those around her.
Then there’s Joely, inspired by Jael, one of the boldest women in the Bible. Jael is famous for taking matters into her own hands to protect her people, and Joely channels that same fierce determination. She’s resourceful, fearless, and isn’t afraid to make tough decisions when the stakes are high. Her dynamic with Divya adds a layer of tension and excitement that keeps the story moving forward.
And finally, we have Asher, who is based on Barak, the military commander who, in the biblical account, refused to go into battle without Deborah by his side. Asher embodies Barak’s bravery and loyalty, but he’s also wrestling with his own doubts and fears. His relationship with his wife Divya and her new investigator Joely is complex and evolving, making for a compelling and unpredictable journey.
I’m having so much fun weaving together these characters and their relationships in Three's a Charm, and I hope you’ll join me on Vella to see how their story unfolds. And of course, keep checking back here for more behind-the-scenes insights that you won’t find anywhere else!
Happy reading!
