What I love to read
If you’ve read anything on this blog, you know I love to read. Writing is a blast and I’m grateful beyond measure for this opportunity to share my stories with you. But reading is my lifelong passion. Not just romance—though, I do read a lot of rom-coms.
So here are two not-just-romance genres I adore.
Urban fantasy
If you haven’t read Kevin Hearne’s wildly entertaining Iron Druid Chronicles, you are missing out on amazing storytelling. And you’re missing out on Oberon, the Irish wolfhound.
Other urban fantasy books I’ve adored:
A Discovery of Witches (All Souls series) by Deborah Harkness
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman
The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman
Space opera
The greatest space opera I’ve read is James SA Corey’s The Expanse series. (The Syfy / Amazon Prime Video series is excellent, as well. It’s absolutely stunning cinematography on top of excellent storytelling. And great casting!)
Here are some of my other favorite space opera reads—I’ve listed the first book in the series, but in every case, I recommend the ENTIRE series:
Dune by Frank Herbert
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
