Teaser Tuesday: Ivy & Iris
Tuesdays are for teasers. Each week I post aesthetically pleasing quotes from Holland, Ivy, or Hannah. Today is a quote from When Ivy Met Adam from Ivy’s point of view about her sister. The quote in the video is edited for conciseness and, well, aesthetics. The full excerpt is below.
Chapter 1 - Ivy
present day
“I think it’s time for you to try Bumble again,” Iris says to me on a FaceTime call. My sister and I try to speak weekly. The thousand (literal) miles between us don’t feel as vast when I can see her lovely, smiling face.
Even though I just saw her at Thanksgiving at our folks’, we are catching up on this chilly Monday morning. I’ve just grabbed a coffee and am walking through Grand Park’s late fall greenery with her face in my hand and her voice in my earbuds. I need to go stare longingly at the dogs in the little off-leash area. My dog-free status is a much bigger problem than my partner-free status, if you ask me. “Oh, yeah, right. Because Bumble has worked so well for you?” I snark.
My real issue isn’t Bumble, of course. My real issue is that I want every relationship to be exactly like the first. If I’m not instantly in love, then what’s the point? When people say they’re in it for the chase, I simply cannot relate. I’m in it for the lazy Sunday mornings. With dogs on our laps. And coffee. Immediately upon meeting Mx. Right.
“Hey, I meet quality men on Bumble,” she retorts. Quality men she dates for a month or two then moves on to the next quality men…
