Whatcha readin’?

June Edition

These are the most recent romance novels I’ve read. (I realize I rely on these monthly posts to help me keep track of what I’ve read and loved. Thanks for indulging me.)

Click the link to check them out. (I’ve decided to stop posting Amazon links and use the authors’ websites when possible.)

June 2023

  1. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, narrated by Rebecca Soler with Teddy Hamilton (I loved this book. I will reread this book. I would have made this book my entire personality if all of Booktok and Bookstagram had not already done so. This book is worth the hype it’s getting!)

  2. Here’s to Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera, narrated by Noah Galvin & Froy Gutierrez

  3. Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall, narrated by Joe Jameson

  4. That Forever Girl by Meghan Quinn, narrated by William LeRoy & Reese Covington (This is when I discovered Kindle Unlimited Audiobooks “Read and Listen for Free” titles!)

  5. The Stopover by T L Swan, narrated by CJ Bloom & Sebastian York

  6. The Takeover by T L Swan, narrated by CJ Bloom & Sebastian York

  7. The Do-Over by T L Swan, narrated by CJ Bloom & Sebastian York (I loved this series!)

  8. Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall, narrated by Nicholas Boulton

Eight books would indicated it was a slow month of reading for me… But there are few factors to consider.

I took the time to read 44+ hours of a sci-fi horror series by Peter Clines. Don’t regret it. 10/10 highly recommend.

Also, I’m currently reading at least four audiobooks and half a dozen ebooks. As a mood reader (aka ADHD reader), I have been starting books, enjoying them greatly, and starting other books.

Another factor is that I’m trying to branch out from just A u d i b l e . As you may have heard, I burned through my credits by March this year. And while I have found many wonderful gems in the Originals catalog, I’m not finding as many as often lately.

What audiobooks have your read and loved lately?

In an effort to branch out from the Zon, I’m trying a Scribd subscription. And I signed up for educator ALCs on Libro.fm (I’m not influential enough to get romance ALCs yet). I have been giving Galatea a try (if you have titles there you can recommend, I’d love to hear about them especially!). I’ve been granted a few NetGalley audiobooks—a couple I really liked and then a handful I haven’t.

Here’s the thing, my hearts. If I complete a book I’m currently reading and I enjoy it, I’ll count it with my July reads (some hopefuls include Lauren Blakely’s new MFM hockey romance and the sequels to the two Alexis Hall books I read in June).

If I don’t finish a book—as in officially DNF because I do not like it—you’ll never hear about it. I strongly believe you should never force yourself to finish reading a book you don’t enjoy. And I beg you not to post about books you DNF. Our authors’ hearts are just too sensitive to withstand such abuse. 💕
