It’s Transgender Rights Readathon time
“Since January of this year, US government websites have been removing any reference to trans and nonbinary identities—including the website for the Stonewall National Monument. Yes, *that* Stonewall. But we’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere. 🏳️⚧️⚧️
This year’s Trans Rights Readathon will run from March 21st to 31st, ending on Trans Day of Visibility. We hope you’ll join us as we spend 11 days reading, recommending, and celebrating trans+ stories, and in various calls to action to support the trans community both in your own area and across the globe.
The Trans Rights Readathon encourages readers to seek out works by and/or about trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender non-conforming authors and characters. We’ll include more details as we get closer to the date of the readathon, but in the meantime, we hope you’ll follow along, share the date, and tag a friend.”
How you can support the Trans Rights Readathon
Taking part in the readathon is more than just picking up a book. Here are a few ways you can participate and make a meaningful impact:
Read Books by Trans Authors – Seek out novels, memoirs, poetry, and nonfiction written by trans and nonbinary writers. Literature is a direct counter to erasure.
Amplify Trans Stories – Share your reads on social media, write reviews, and recommend books to friends and family. The more people engage with these stories, the stronger their impact.
Donate to Trans Organizations – Consider supporting trans-led advocacy groups like the Transgender Law Center, book funds, or local community initiatives.
Speak Up & Educate – Challenge misinformation, support trans rights in your community, and push back against policies that seek to erase trans identities.
