I’m consolidating three earlier posts from this series in honor of Disability Pride Month.

I believe so much that readers should be able to find themselves in books. Reading has helped me (with my endometriosis/adenomyosis, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD) feel seen. So… Like Ximena always says, when in doubt make more lists!

🎧Sensory Impairment Rep

These are romance novels featuring main characters who are Deaf, visually impaired, or unable to speak by authors whose work I really enjoy.

A Cruise Fling by Laura Brown, narrated by Kelli Tager

Make You Mine (Running in Circles, Book 1) by E.M. Lindsey, narrated by Zachary Zaba

Saved by the Boss (New York Billionaires, Book 2) by Olivia Hayle, narrated by Ava Blair & Mercer Boffey

🎧Chronic Illness Rep

What’s very cool about this list is that the women who wrote these books are living with challenges themselves. I love that these writers have been brave enough to share these stories so that those of us who also suffer can find themselves in romance novel to love.

Always Only You (Bergman Brothers, Book 2 — can be read as a standalone) by Chloe Liese, narrated by CJ Bloom & Nelson Hobbs

Love Flushed (All Access Series, Book 2) by Evie Mitchell, narrated by Teddy Hamilton & Savannah Gilmore

Kissing Kosher by Jean Meltzer, narrated by Dara Rosenberg

🎧Mental Illness Rep

These are all books I’ve rated five stars featuring mental illness rep. Maybe take these books slowly—I definitely felt some things when I read these.

Beard in Mind (Winston Brothers, Volume 4) by Penny Reid, narrated by Angela Dawe & Chris Brinkley

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, narrated by Rebecca Lowman & Maxwell Caulfield

Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon, narrated by Sarah Mollo-Christensen

Jennifer J. Coldwater

Jennifer J. Coldwater cannot believe that writing stories is her full-time gig. She dreamed of this day.
