Bi Visibility Day

Happy Bi Visibility Day! Today, we celebrate bisexuality and raise awareness about the unique experiences of bisexual people around the world. Held every year on September 23, Bi Visibility Day is a time to honor the contributions of the bisexual community, challenge bi-erasure, and affirm that bisexual identities are valid.

As a bisexual author, I’m proud to center bisexual main characters in all three of my novels. In Holland, My Heart, Holland is bi but finds herself in a straight-presenting relationship (after losing her young husband). Ivy in When Ivy Met Adam is proudly bi and has been out since high school. In Three's a Charm, Divya spends much of the story coming to terms with her bisexuality, exploring what it means to her and those around her. These characters’ journeys reflect the complexity and beauty of bisexual experiences, offering readers a chance to connect with authentic, inclusive love stories.

Bisexuality isn’t a phase, confusion, or a halfway point—it’s a valid, beautiful, and important identity. Yet, many bisexual people face stigma and bi-erasure from both the LGBTQ+ and straight communities. Today is about breaking down these barriers and celebrating bi identities in all their forms.

This Bi Visibility Day, let’s uplift bisexual voices, embrace diverse stories, and push for a future where bi people are fully seen, valued, and respected.
